We offer daily custom, private tours with a 4-hour minimum, you can customize your adventure -up to an 8-hour experience. All adventures are a flat rate for up to 6 passengers, appetizers, locally roasted coffee, tea, sparkling water included-catering available for an extra fee
Morning Departure (8:30am-12:30pm)
$1800 plus taxes and Fees
Join us for a 4-hour custom experience on Kachemak Bay.
- We depart promptly at 8:30am to make the most of your time on the bay.
- The 4 hour adventure is time for you to relax, explore and get in touch with the rhythms of life on Kachemak Bay.
- The adventure is a completely custom experience where we tailor your adventure to the weather, sea conditions and your interests.
- Each adventure includes sparkling water, juices and locally roasted coffee.
- Appetizers included

Evening Departure (6pm-10pm)
$1800 plus taxes and fees
Join us for a 4-hour custom experience on Kachemak Bay.
- We depart promptly at 6pm to find the beauty of an Alaskan daylight evening.
- The 4 hour adventure is time for you to relax, explore and get in touch with the rhythms of Kachemak Bay.
- The adventure is a completely custom experience where we tailor your adventure to the best weather, sea conditions, and your interests.
- The evening 4 hour adventure has full daylight (the beauty of the midnight sun!) and a heated interior warm cabin if needed.
Full Day (customized times) 8 hours
$3600 plus taxes and fees
Join us for an 8-hour custom experience on Kachemak Bay and beyond for up to 6 people.
- This trip includes sightseeing, wildlife viewing, and has options for secluded beach stops, historic fishing community exploration, artist studio visits, beach campfires, and other custom options.
- This trip includes sparkling water, juices and locally roasted coffee. Appetizers and a catered meal (if booked 24 hours prior to departure) upon request.
- Special requests welcomed.
About Us
Experienced Licensed Captain/Guide
Locally owned and operated-Janel Harris has been operating commercial boats on Kachemak Bay for 10 years and has held a USCG license for over 20 years. She has a focus on safety and her priority is to ensure guests have the experience of a lifetime -she loves sharing wild places with her guests. Her credentials include:
- 100 ton USCG Master’s license
- Alaska Marine Safety Education Association certified marine safety instructor
- Red Cross Certified Lifeguard
- Red Cross Certified Professional rescuer CPR/AED & First Aid
- BA from the University of California
What we do
We offer custom, private experiences for up to 6 passengers. Let us guide you as you relax and explore.
- We tailor each trip to your interests including culture and history, local wildlife -including birds, otters and whales, hiking trails, scenic beaches, picnic spots, geology or beach campfires.
- Every trip helps to support university research--a portion of each fee goes to the university.
- Have a special event such as an elopement or wedding? We can find the perfect location. We have the local knowledge needed to navigate the varying and dynamic conditions found around the bay and give you the best of the bay.
- We can help you plan and customize your adventure.
The Boat
The Research Vessel Tectonica:
- USCG safety inspected 32 foot aluminum "Munson" designed and built with all USCG required safety equipment.
- Operates as a research vessel in addition to offering private adventures
- Top to bottom refit was done during the winter of 22/23
- Comfortable, heated interior cabin with seats and room for up to 6 passengers with large windows for sightseeing
- Ample exterior deck space for close encounters and wildlife photos.
- Enclosed restroom/head accessible from the large aft deck, with hot running water
- Tender/dinghy for beach landings.
- Outlets and USB for phone and camera equipment charging
- Refrigerator
- Video Screen
- Comfortable seating interior and on deck
- Updated marine electronics and navigation equipment (radar etc).
- Hot water shower (great for free divers) in head and on aft deck
- Aft deck chairs
- Door cut out on rail for easy entry
